Bartolome

Bartolomé is a small island off James that offers beautiful white sand beaches fringed by luxuriant green mangroves. The eastern end of the island has many volcanic cones and lava tubes. Climb to the summit of the island for one of the most breathtaking views in the islands. The tall, leaning spike known as Pinnacle Rock is the eroded remains of an old tuff cone. At its foot is a beach for swimmers and snorkelers, and a tiny colony of Galápagos penguins.

Bartolome affords some of the most luxurious views in the entire Galapagos Islands archipelago.

Dry/Wet Landing

Known to be one of the younger islands

in the archipelago, Bartolome doesn't boast many species of plants or animals. A 30 minute climb to the summit, however, provides a spectacular panoramic view featuring tuff cones, spatter cones, and cinder cones. Lava cactus and lizards will be seen along the trail.

Once you have descended, your pang

a will likely take you to the other side of the Island near Pinnacle Rock for a wet landing to do some swimming and snorkeling. Penguins, sea turtles, and white-tipped sharks can be seen here.
